Tumble Dryer Newbie

Ok, so at 39 years old I just got my first tumble dryer.
I was very excited as you can imagine and done my usual Saturday dark wash with DD uniform and my work stuff, but, when I went to sort it and checked the labels like 80% of the stuff cannot be tumble dried!!
I'm assuming most people ignore this and tumble dry anyway as what's the point?
Barr the obvious things like delicate items and things with embellishments, can other things like t shirts and hoodies really get ruined?

Also, the dryer has many settings but the manual doesn't say what temperature these settings are actually using, so when an item says dry on low what setting should I be using?
Am I right in thinking cotton is the hottest?
The few cycles I've done I've put on synthetic as I think this is a lower heat?

Firstly, before you use the tumble dryer give your washing an extra spin in the washing machine, this removes up to a pint of water saving energy and money.

Give everything a good shake before you put it in and you'll get rid of most the creases and no need to iron.

Tshirts with prints on them can peel off and start coming away so avoid tumble drying those.

Pretty much everything else I chuck in the tumble dryer knowing it'll probably shrink a bit (PJ bottoms) but I'll get less mould in the house so it's a trade off. I do try to do washing the night before, leaving it to air dry over night with a small window open then chuck it in to finish off in the morning.

My tumble dryer has a button for low heat, I've never used it. I just put mine on the setting for 'cupboard dry' and it stops when it's dry instead of using a timer and drying dry clothes.

Oh also make sure it's not plugged into an extension cord, mine originally was and burnt it out as it got too hot.

I put everything in except for football shirts. Everything on high heat. When the cycle finishes I hang everything up on a hanger and put it straight into the wardrobe. No need to iron!
Bloody love my electric guzzler tumble dryer
