Your best method/product for cleaning white tiles and white tile grout?

Hi all,

Got a white tiled bathroom with white grout which is looking distinctly mucky.

I've tried using steam cleaner. Brings the tiles up nicely but does nothing for the grout. Tried one of those white pen things. Very time consuming and poor result. Tried bleach solution and a tooth brush. Again, got rid of some stains but did nothing to actually brighten the grout.

If I can't sort it I'm thinking of going over the grout with black, because it looks horrible as it is. Especially when you go in there at night and put the light on. Just looks grey and mucky.

Thanks in advance.

Bleach. Pour neat bleach in the grout. Leave it until it goes white again and rinse.

There used to be one called grot buster that had a special nozzle for pouring into the grout but they don't seem to make it anymore.

Twice weekly spray with flash with bleach. Spray on in the morning, leave until evening showers.

I started using it after commenting on SIL’s sparkling grout, even though her bathroom was around 8 years old, & she said that’s what her cleaner uses.

I’ve lived in this house 5 years now and the grout is still white thanks to flash with bleach.

Bleach and cotton pads.
Leave for hours. Take off and rinse well.
Works a treat.

I use “pink stuff” tub and a toothbrush - it’s time consuming but works really well

We've changed all of our grout to either grey or black now as got sick of having to bleach white grout.

I'm another who would recommend neat bleach and an old toothbrush.

Flash with bleach is good. Rub it into the grout with an old toothbrush and leave it for an hour or two. LG Mould is supposed to be good but I've never used it.

Ecover bleach and vinegar.

HG mould spray.
Powerful stuff. Needs afew mins, if it's really bad leave longer but you can see it bleaching it.

Strong stuff so window open and old clothes on.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 03/02/2022 17:52

Oops HG not LG. Chitty is right.

This^ it's the only thing I've ever found to work properly.

A bit more difficult when it's half way up the wall - you might need to find some way of masking taping the cotton wool in place but it will come up as new
