All those essential bits and pieces - where to store them?

Some people have a drawer for all those bits like screws, picture hooks , batteries, string, wire, elastic bands, clips, tacks… deep breath, and much more.
I have been using my desk drawers, but would actually like to keep those for stationery, pens, etc. I haven't any other spare or big enough drawers.
I have considered throwing everything out, but have found too often in the past that I throw the very item I need a few months later.
So please tell me what you do about storing your bits and pieces?

This is my current battle/headache. Some lucky people use a garage I think. I'm pinning my hopes on a kalax unit...

Batteries live in a Quality Street tin. We're lucky enough to have a garage and tend to keep other stuff in Really Useful boxes in there - if I wanted to be more organised I'd look into boxes with divider trays, like these:

I have heard that you can pop unwanted elastic bands into Royal Mail postboxes and they'll reuse them.

I have a storage thing for these. A bit like this

This is the one

Boxes on top of bookcases. With a label. The boxes are wide and long enough for an a4 pad of paper. One for light bulbs and batteries, one for stationary bits, one for overflow dvds, and some other bits in boxes on kallax units

I had a cupboard like this. I decluttered it. I've got three shelves. One is candles, torches, lightbulbs and a small box of sewing things.

Second is padlocks, screwdrivers, hammer, box of screws and nails and things that attached furniture to walls, another box of super glue and Allen keys and mini screwdrivers, gaffer tape.

Third shelf is electronic so earphones, chargers, satnav, camera, and a box of MyLittlePony hairbands combs etc Grin

Fridge magnets, tacks, paperclip etc goes in my stationary supplies section not in the clean and tidy cupboard formerly known as the junk space.

I love not having a junk space. I never used any of it because I didn't know what I had so bought more. So I say have a serious declutter and properly organize the things you really want into to keep

I don't bother storing lightbulbs...batteries etc as i live in the centre of town so can walk to Wilko in 5 mins and buy anything i might need.

IKEA moppe. Easy to paint or decoupage if you like.

Set of plastic drawers under the stairs. So handy. We keep stationery, misc, carrier bags, instruction manuals etc. All. The stuff that otherwise wouldn't have a home

Ecosralayce · 27/01/2022 20:38

we have one drawer in our kallax that is stationery, so includes drawing pins, sellotape, glue sticks pens , envelopes etc
screws etc are in the toolbox in the shed
batteries and lightbulbs are in a storage basket in the cupboard under the TV
curtain hooks live in a drawer by my bed(random I know, but they just ended up there and now I know they live there!)
further storage boxes labelled on shelves in the cupboard in the utility with things like torches, candles etc
