What do you use to clean your toilet

I have a dislike for toilet brushes, they just seem so unhygienic. What do you use to clean your toilet with?

A silicone toilet brush! They are the future as I learnt on here a few months ago!
No holding or sitting in dirty water, can be bleached along with the loo and work soooo much better.

Babdoc · 20/01/2022 21:55

Oh OP, you don’t realise what you have unleashed! Have you not seen the endless lavvy brush wars on previous threads?! Grin

GoodnightGrandma · 20/01/2022 21:57

If you’re not using a toilet brush, designed for the job, I suppose you’re putting your hand down and scraping the skids off 🤔

Northernsoullover · 20/01/2022 21:58

Just bleach occasionally. I keep the seat/rim clean with bog roll and method spray. We only use bleach if it's marked.

Kshhuxnxk · 20/01/2022 22:01

I got one of those silicon ones and I hated it. Normal toilet brush used, rinsed in the flush then sprayed with whatever cleaner I'm using, rest it on toilet seat and hold in place by lid. Dries in no time so no mucky holder.

RettyPriddle · 20/01/2022 22:01

Toilet duck fresh brush - flushable pads on a stick

Rebeccasmoonnecklace · 20/01/2022 22:07

My mother has never had a toilet brush, she says they are unhygienic. She bleaches the loo as needed and uses wipes for the seat, etc. There used to be 5 of us in the house and never any pebble-dash or skidders in sight Grin Grin

Pegasussnail · 20/01/2022 22:08

I use spray bleach and toilet roll

Cismyfatarse · 20/01/2022 22:08

My husband.

Not literally. I don't stick him down there. But he does the job.

crazyjinglist · 20/01/2022 22:09

Squirty bleach on the inside, loo roll and bathroom spray on the seat etc.

bedington · 20/01/2022 22:16

Bleach is not good for the environment and does not get rid of limescale which is how the toilet gets stained. Citric acid is a much better option.

Also the j&j loo brush is the biggest pile of crap..pun intended. It does nothing.

Tolo210 · 20/01/2022 22:18

@GoodnightGrandma ha! No - just bleach currently like a few other posters

Not everyone gets limescale. I live in a soft water area - limescale isn't an issue.

Phantom1 · 20/01/2022 23:09

Generally, toilet brush and bleach. If I really go to town, I use a sponge scourer under the rim, it's really good for scrubbing away any hidden crap. They come in big packs, so they get thrown away afterwards. Also don't forget limescale remover!

userxx · 20/01/2022 23:24

Chuck bleach down the loo weekly.

A580Hojas · 20/01/2022 23:31

Toilet duck and a brush. Luckily, I find I'm not freaked out by loo brushes at all. I've peacefully lived in a house or flat with at least one loo brush for over 50 years now and no terrible brush-related incident has ever occurred.

Kite22 · 20/01/2022 23:39

Well, as a normal person and not someone who is horrified by toilet brushes, I use toilet brushes. You know, the very tool designed to do that very job.
Revolutionary, me Grin

FinallyFluid · 20/01/2022 23:42

Steradent.

TedMullins · 20/01/2022 23:44

I would rather stick my hand and a sponge down the bog than use a toilet brush, so that’s what I do. I use antibac wipes on the seat and rim. Toilet brushes sitting in their germ-breeding pots actually make me feel nauseous just to think about! I throw the sponge away after use obviously.

shouldistop · 21/01/2022 21:36

Just bleach, don't particularly get skid marks and no limescale where I live.

PattyPan · 21/01/2022 21:45

No bleach in my house, it’s an environmental disaster. I don’t buy anything that says ‘harmful to aquatic life’ on the back of the bottle. I use Ecover power and one of the flat Joseph Joseph loo brushes that can get under the rim - it is super gross if you don’t get under the rim properly and I don’t know what else would fit, a cloth wouldn’t have the rigidity to get right up there.

@TedMullins I am horrified by the concept of throwing away a sponge after one use, Jesus Christ no wonder the planet is fucked! Just stick the loo brush or indeed sponge in some vinegar and don’t lick them.

chunkiest · 21/01/2022 21:49

I use one cloth for the toilet that I put on a 95 degree wash with other cleaning cloths and floor mop.

Probably considered filth on here but better than bleaching all the time

After a thorough clean I use ecover limescale remover

HobgoblinGold · 21/01/2022 22:19

Just good ole bleach here. Hate toilet brushes with a passion. Horrid things.
