What does it mean when the symbol for washing says 30 then the directions say cold wash?

A 30° wash is a cold wash.

30 degrees is not cold! Cold is cold!

My machine does a cold wash, then 20 deg, 30 deg, 40 deg, 50 deg, 60 deg, 75 deg and 90 deg.

Traditionally, a cold wash would be around 20-30°, which would be warm enough to take the chill off cold water, a warm wash would be hand hot water around 40-50°, a hot wash around 60° and a boil wash around 90-100°.

It would be better if the directions stated 'Cool' rather than 'Cold', when advising a 30° wash wouldn't it? It wouldn't seem like a contradiction then!
