Things that make life easier

We're hopefully (house moving gods depending) moving to a bigger house soon. 2 small DC, pets and full time jobs.

I'm looking for ideas that make looking after everything easier or more efficient.

We've already got a robotic grass cutter that we'll be taking with us. I'm planning to get a robovac/effy. Hoping to get into batch cooking.

Any other ideas? Systems /habits or technology ideas all welcome.

This is for the future but make sure everyone in the house pulls their weight and as a minimum clears up after themselves. So even with very small children have them put their dirty clothes in the laundry baskets, take their plates to the dishwasher etc. it might be more work in the short term but is worth it.

Yes, team effort for cleaning.
Get everyone to do chores regularly.

There is a long thread somewhere on making things simpler. I will see if I can find it.

Every time you use a kitchen knife sharpen it.

Things that help me:

Clean the bathroom while the dc are in the bath (and keep cleaning stuff in the bathroom to make this easier).

Do a quick job every time you have 5 mins - so empty the dishwasher while the kettle is boiling, so stick a wash on if you have 5 mins before a work meeting starts.

The biggest one is - own fewer things.
