Blocked Toilet - Help Please!

Lovely topic for a Sunday evening but in need of some mumsnet wisdom!

I have had guests over this evening, one of which has managed to block my toilet- they noticed that the toilet cleaner block thingy that sits on the toilet rim had fallen into the toilet and rather than
a) fish it out
b) ask for help
They ever so kindly decided on option c) flush toilet FIVE times and hope it would go away. Queue a now very blocked and very overflowing toilet. I’ve tried unblocking with my hands but can’t even feel it and also tried the plunger to see if it would dislodge it a bit however I think it’s rather stuck in there.

Trying to avoid an expensive plumber call out! Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

Second using the mop as a plunger. Much better than anything else. Plumber told me this when mine failed all other attempts to unblock . It was how he unblocked it. You have to be vigorous and persevere. Told me he always plunges the mop 30 times before giving up.

Id totally recommend this. Honestly forget any other plungers etc this thing is AMAZING. Clears it in minutes

Thanks for all the help everyone! I’ve spent my lunch break purchasing a new heavy duty deep plunger like has been recommended, a new mop in case I need to sacrifice my old one and a drain snake and a new bottle of gin to get me through this evening

Wish me luck!

@loopylindi yes but there are some acids that eat through some plastics aren’t there? I’m sure I remember acetone being quite corrosive to plastic. So yes, I am for real. I wouldn’t recommend dumping a load of acetone in the ocean though. I don’t think the fish would appreciate it.

(Also obviously don’t actually condone pouring a plastic corrosive substance down your toilet, it was meant tongue in cheek)

We got a super toilet plunger unblocker from Amazon it was brilliant. It worked first time, I couldn't believe it as we'd tried everything.
