Help me please.......my living room stinks of fish, we haven't had fish for weeks!

It's not me or my DDs or DH, I have got down on my hands and knees (well DH has) and sniffed all over the carpet, I have sniffed all the upholstery and curtains/soft furnishings but I can't find the source.

We haven't had fish for weeks and I only noticed the smell this morning. We have a fish tank but this is clean and all the fish are accounted for. We have a cat but he's not the cause. Please, has anybody any ideas to save me from this pongy fishy stench?

Dodgy wiring can smell fishy.

Have a sniff around sockets.

make sure its not electics burning, we had this at work and it was a burning switch

Definitely electrics. Not necessarily the wiring though. Is there anything switched on that hasn't been on for ages? Christmas tree lights or something?

We kept getting this in one of our old MQs. The DHE actually said it was jsut me becasue I was preganant and it must be my hormones. It turns out it was the bit that holds the bulb in the centre light socket - the bit that you screw the bulb into. it was made of something that was burning. Could be lights,electrics etc

Nh, not cat piss coddy, would be able to smell that on the carpet when I did the sniff test.
