WTF is in the soil?

I've been hearing a noise in the living room, close to the massive outdoor pot with a pine in it which has been dragged inside as a last minute Christmas tree. Tonight I've spotted dried leaves moving on the soil, like something is hiding underneath it. I put my hand up and say I don't actually dare to poke it as I've a strong dislike of certain animals. My question is that could it be one of those massive, fat caterpillars hiding in the soil? Or a large snail? I'll accost my DP as soon as he wakes up but the whole thing makes me unsettled. I know I sound ridiculous but I just hate animals in the living room. I've had pigeons shooting out of the chimney before which I've found equally distressing. I'm pathetic, aren't I?

Snails and caterpillars aren’t particularly known for being noisy OP, Grin. I would think it is more likely to be a little mouse or something.

Mouse or perhaps a frog or toad.

Well mouse is my worst fear. The fucker is right under dried leaves and as it moves about a bit, the leaves make a rustling sound.

What's in there ?

LubaLuca · 28/12/2021 08:31

Probably a very small mammal that was hibernating and now thinks it's Spring.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/12/2021 08:36

can you put your tree outside?

ursuslemonade · 28/12/2021 12:53

We're taking it outside thank God. The only thing my dc has seen was a tiny snail underneath the leaves which I'm sure was not the culprit 🙄
