Clean carpets?

I was wondering what you all use to clean carpets? I've been thinking of buying something to do them myself instead of paying ££ for someone else to do it, and also with a potty training toddler they should really be done a lot. Any advice on what to get? I don't want something that will just steam clean the surface, want something to really suck all the dirt out. If it's something I can also use to suck dirt and wee accidents out of mattresses and sofas even better.
Thanks 😊

We got a Vax carpet cleaner...it's got two tanks..one with the clean water and one where the dirty water it sucks up goes. It got my hallway carpet really clean and it was in a bad way as hadn't been cleaned in years. It's very satisfying to see the dirty water collected!

Thanks @Comedycook I do really enjoy the kind of cleaning where you can see it like that, so satisfying

Also have a Vax carpet cleaner. Multi pet household and puppy this year has really tested it!

It’s absolutely disgusting, in a really fascinating way.
