If it is washable stick it in cold water immediately then wait for someone more knowledgeable to tell you what to do next.

As far as I know don't put salt on it, or white wine or any other so-called remedies.

oxy stain remover powder. Make a paste, smear the stains with it, leave for an hour, wash. It works wonders!

But yes, try and keep it damp.

If you don't get any better advice what I personally would do is soak it for a while in cold water, then hand wash in lukewarm bio powder solution, unless the fabric is too delicate.

Don't use hot water. Don't tumble dry or iron it if the stain is still on it. May need to wash it more than once.

Black is good! It will wash out now - trust me - mad

(I use cold water and then any old soap on the basin and honestly, it washes out after turning black)

White wine did work for me.

A friend's DD knocked a full class of red wine all over my very pale oatmeal coloured carptet. Same amount of white wine, maybe a bit more, removed it in a short space of time. Do it whilst still wet.

onepieceoflollipop · 18/12/2007 21:42

Hulababy I read somewhere that sometimes white wine works, but sometimes not (maybe it depends on the type of fabric or something like that?)

Boredveryverybored · 18/12/2007 21:42

Salt also works wonders if it's put on while the stain is still wet, soaks up all of the wine and leaves clothes/carpet clean

thank you all very much. isn't a delicate fabric. it's one of dds tops. part of a v cute three piece that she wore for the first time today. she was playing on the kitchen floor and she must have got 'zapped' when i dropped wooden spoon from mulled wine mixture

feel optimistic after WWs post.

i didn't even know the cold water thing - i would have boil washed it in the hope of getting out. glad i posted!

huge thanks.
