Curtain pole woe

Echofallen · 05/12/2021 20:42

I bought curtains today (currently there's just a blind in place). I managed to get the curtain pole off the bracket thing but I unscrewed the end ball finial things to hang the curtains on the pole not realising that there's stupid screws inside the pole holding the finials on and now the screws are just sliding up and down inside the pole and I can't reattach the ball things.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The screw just slides down the pole when I tip it up but it's not coming through the hole so I can screw the finial back on. Ugh. I was hoping to have nice curtains hanging tonight but it's turned into a disaster as usual.

I’ve only ever had little screws on the outside of the pole that screw in to attach the finial. How did you unscrew it if the screw is inside?

I grabbed the ball finial and twisted it round and it unscrewed off into my hand. I'd assumed there was a fixed screw attached to the end of the pole but no it was loose anddisappearedinto the pole. I've been told that an allan key might help on the end of the pole as there's a bit that looks attached but it's stuck fast so maybe using an allan key on it will work and then I can attach everything from there, hopefully.

I've just had this problem and spent about an hour trying to fix it without answers, so I wanted to return and save anyone else the pain as my husband worked it out in a seconds... you need to push the screw inside the ball and hold in place against the pole. Then screw it in using the POLE, not the ball.
