I just use fly spray.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/12/2021 08:35

they dont appear to be landing on anything apart from the light

The sudden present of blowflies indicates sounds like something has died somewhere.
Mouse under floorboards? Bird down a chimney perhaps?

HumphreyCobblers · 05/12/2021 08:38

Cluster flies? They hibernate in windowsills and cracks in walls then come out when it warms up a bit. They drive me mad as I live in an old house and there are lots around this year.

Theunamedcat · 05/12/2021 08:39

Find the dead body

Get a sunflower sticker or sticky fly trap they are attracted to them

amylou8 · 05/12/2021 08:40

Have you got a cat? A mouse corpse somewhere would be prime suspect in our house.

This is what I’d be thinking.

I have this issue too!!!

We have had our awful dirty neighbours move out 3 weeks ago- builders there daily to sort the mess....Im talking, dog mess and pee every room, human crap in most rooms, rat infestations too- The builders said its the worst property they've work on.
They are nearly completed, everything that can be new next door, has been put in.

I wonder if this is the fly issue for us?

eurochick · 05/12/2021 10:20

Same. We've just had loads appear overnight.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/12/2021 10:23

yes, ours appeared on Friday
i think they must be cluster flies

They will be cluster flies, they only really seem to go to lights. We had an infestation in our loft and have just got rid. Have a look up there, bet that’s where they are coming from, ours were squeezing through the loft hatch 🤢 we smoked bombed them x3 times 5 days apart and they have now gone!

TheSpottedZebra · 05/12/2021 10:34

Have you bought in logs?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/12/2021 10:36

thank you,
i will send dh up to the loft

I wouldn’t have noticed them to be honest if our neighbours hadn’t told us to look. They were just in black clumps on the rafters. We live next to a farm so quite common apparently.
