Removing scratches from glass

Can anyone tell me what might help polish off or hide scratches on a large fitted bathroom mirror. (looks like the previous tenant tried to clean patches of it with something really abrasive - sandpaper?)

I'm sure i read somewhere that brasso would help to minimise scratches on glass, but pleeeeaasssee try it on a bit of mirror first that you don't mind if it makes it worse....old compact mirror or something.

if you google on getting scratches out of glass i'm sure it'll be able to offer some help

I think Brasso as well, although it won't get rid of the grooves!

What about Nail varnish remover? It seems to work on everything else
