Please can you offer your top tips when hosting guests who are coming over for a meal on Saturday night. I'm probably over thinking about it and worrying unnecessarily, but we never do stuff like this. I will make sure the house is Spick and span, and I'm leaving dh in charge of the food but please if you have any top tips for the evening to run smoothly. I would really appreciate it

Make sure you have enough wine/drinks in for the evening. Plenty loo roll in the bathroom with clean hand towels. Don't have the heating cranked up too much, it will get warm, but most of all, don't stress and just enjoy the night. They are coming to see you, not judge you on your house or hosting skills. Have a great night OP

Exactly what @shouldisay said!

Shove any dirty pots in the microwave… it’s a great hiding place!

Just me? Never mind!!

Enjoy OP I’m sure you’ll have a great time

Definitely relax and enjoy it, don't worry about judgement - real friends don't do that! But if you want to have fun creating a relaxing atmosphere for them then I think candles and a good music playlist are nice additions.

Get treats in for breakfast not just evening meals.

Prepare as much of the food as possible in advance so you reheat on day, cold pudding etc

Check the plates/glasses/napkins you plan to use day before (& wash if necessary, one less thing to do on day)

@shouldisay has it right

On top: get loads of booze in then you won’t care what the house is like Grin
