Just realised there is a load of grey gunk there, need to give it a good clean, what do people use?

I just use a damp cloth.

Apparently it’s helpful to soak a cloth in bleach and lay it over the mouldy/gunky area for a while. I haven’t tried it yet though!

White vinegar

I’d use something like kitchen spray with bleach as a first attempt (and rinse with warm water to avoid bleach damaging the seal), then just dry out with a flannel/tea towel when you’ve finished using the machine & leave door open so it doesn’t come back

Pull out the drawer& empty water out too (I have a tea towel on top of my machine so drawer can dry out too)

Dettoll washing machine cleaner works really well. You also need to get at the seal between the drum and the seal edge. I have tiny fingers so put on rubber gloves pull it forward and go all the way round. Then run a hot wash afterwards to clear it all.

I’ve ordered some white vinegar, I’m always a bit worried about bleach around clothes, hopefully I can keep on top of it after a good scrub 🤞🏻

We use a water softener ball in the machine and there's no gunk, (just few cat hairs when I wash their bedding. ) I always use a wash ball for the no SLS detergent and white vinegar in the wash too (so no gunk\mould\ in the detergent tray). You have to keep the door of the machine open too, when it's not in use of course! like someone said upthread.

You can get the balls from Health Food shops.
