Moved into a new build with it throughout a couple of years back. I just can't get to grips with it. Every single change of season I throw my toys out the pram as I can't fathom it. It's either too hot or too cold. The pre-set settings options only allow it to be on morning/evening all week, then all day at weekends - I work from home some days, it gets cold.. at weekends when it's on all day its too hot. I try to set personalised over ride (user) programmes to fit with our lives and they don't seem to kick in . It says 21.5 in different rooms yet they feel entirely different in temperature. At least in summer it's off, we just open windows.. in winter it takes ages to kick in then it's too hot and opening windows only triggers the thermostats to think it's colder I'm sure... I just want a radiator I can whack up or down and hang my bloody knickers on to dry!!!! Tried getting an engineer in once and he just charged me a small fortune to set it to pre-sets that don't work for us. Any advice?

Have you got the instruction booklet?
Can you find it with Google?

Usually it's just a settling step you've missed out.

If not , try getting hold of the company whose unit the program/timer unit is from, they should be able to help you to program it properly or it might be better to buy a new unit (just the program/timer unit). You can generally buy that kind of thing cheaper on ebay/Amazon, but in your situation I'd rather buy a new one so I had some help/comeback if I still couldn't get it to work.

As PP says. Get a new controller. Mine lets me set exact times individually for each day, and I can change or override it from my phone.
So if I’m coming home earlier than usual I can just turn it up on the app before setting off. I agree it’s not as quick to respond as radiators - it takes time for the floor to heat up or cool down. Think of it as being like a storage heater that you walk about on!

We've got a nest controller on ours, and a different one for the rest of the house. Works really well.

What controller do you have?
Where are your thermostats located?

This is definitely an issue that can be fixed.

Geneticsbunny · 03/11/2021 19:28

We found leaving ours on a constant lowish temp all the time seems to work best. I think they are set to about 17-18 degrees

I can also vouch for Nest thermostat controller. You can adjust heating/water from your phone. Very very easy to use.

You must remember that underfloor heating runs at a lower temperature than heating using rads and has to heat up the floor slab. Our kitchen is set to 20 from 7 to10 during the day and drops down to 17 overnight. It “learns” how long it takes the rooms to reach temperature and the starts the heating early enough to reach required temperature.

This would drive me mad too.

Where are the thermostats? I moved mine from the wall where it was installed because it was in a naturally cooler area where we don't spend much time do house was too hot generally.

Is the house zoned? This could help.

Our underfloor heating takes an hour to bring room temperature up then at least half an hour to cool down so maybe bringing earlier - if you can't do this then try changing the clock so it thinks it's earlier than it is?
