Did blocked filter cause dishwasher to not turn on?

I hope someone can help!

Our dishwasher is just under 2 years old, it is a Bosch Serie 2 Silence Plus.

Tonight, it would not turn on to do our usual evening cycle. Unplugged the dishwasher and plugged it somewhere else, it started. It Finished the current cycle it was on and then went off again! And would not turn back on.

Took the filter out, and it was disgustingly blocked with food. Gave it a clean, and now dishwasher is back on and working fine.

Could a blocked filter affect the dishwasher turning on, or will there be a bigger issue?

Probably something else but you need to keep the filter clear weekly and run a maintenance cycle weekly with a cup of soda crystals too.

Ours once packed up due to grease, I had to run the hottest cycle to melt the fat. Of course I only realised once dh had had the whole thing out and back in again and it weighs a ton. I learnt the hard way.

I was not popular that day I can tell you.
