Slug infestation in wheelie bin

Any ideas on how to get rid of them? It's grim opening the lid and finding them round the edge 🤢. Is this more a house or garden question?

Empty the bin of rubbish, tip it on its side and sweep it out. Wrap sweepings up and bin them. Finito

Clean the bin next time it has been emptied & use salt to keep them away.
Get a cheap packet of table salt (27p in Tesco) & sprinkle generously on the ground around & under the bin if it's not on grass.

I do it once every couple of months & it's not only slug & insect free, but weed free too.
The area I'm doing this on is not near a flower bed or anywhere I want things to grow.
