what makes smells in clothes hang around (I'm finding this esp with underarm smell, even though we and our clothes are regularly washed ) is this a washing liquid problem (I do use ecover) or a washing machine setting/length of washing program problem?

grateful for advice on this...

not sure about lingering smells on the clothes but when I used liquitabs in my machine, my machine stank after a while. Changed back to powder (tabs) and no problem since. Do a hot cycle with some white vinegar and give the rubber seal a good wipe. It should resolve pretty quickly.

Ecover liquid isn't that good. I use their tablets now because the liquid didn't seem to get the clothes clean.

You can also use vinegar as a final rinse instead of conditioner. Amazingly enough the dry clothes don't smell vinegary, just v. clean.
