What must the growers get per unit? I don't say that as a dig @KittenKong. I really mean that. I'm having my morning coffee and thinking out loud. If M & S and others sell them at that price and presumably do so at least at cost price if not at a profit. The distribution costs have to come out of that too. It leaves very little for the growers. Pumpkins are bulky so I'd imagine that they are harvested by hand. Given their size it probably also means that you can't pack em in on the land. You couldn't grow a huge volume per acre iykwim. That said, thanks for the tip off. I'm off to M & S Grin

God I sound AWFUL Shock

No you don't @JustHavinABreak I think the same and then also buy šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø it's madness isn't it not just pumpkins but so much veg must end up shafting growers.
pops off to m&s for bargains

I assumed they sold them as loss leaders (lite you on for a 65p pumpkin then persuade you to buy a spider cake for £££)? I’m not even sure wit they would be tasty ones (I bought some a couple of years ago and they tasted horrible)
