Bed bug rashes

Hi I’m suspecting bed bugs are attacking the kids though I haven’t seen any critters. The rash is in a line on neck and shoulder of DD and back of DS. Not itchy. Thought it was viral rash at first . Any images of rashes to compare or how to find said critters / how to get rid? Pest control bloke won’t come unless I see some evidence other than rash. Thanks

Do they have bites on ankles, wrists, lower torso? That would be a more normal place than top of the neck.

Bed bug bites are classically in a line of 3.

You should be able to find evidence of the bugs - look for black specks in the creases of mattress, slats of bed, crevices of any bedside furniture. You might also see the bugs themselves hidden away if the infestation is bad.

The black specks is faeces - made of blood obv so dabbing them with a damp paper towel should show red.

I hope its not bedbugs as they're horrific to get rid of.

Bed bug bites can't easily be distinguished from, for example, flea bites. Have there been any animals in the house in the last couple of years? If you've just turned heating on it's a classic time for them to come back to life.

Yes as Pp says, look in crevices in and around bed. They retreat under the mattress and hide in the daytime. In wooden beds look at joints in the bed. If no black specks anywhere and you have or have had a furry pet, fleas are more likely. Fingers crossed it's fleas, they are easier to get rid of.

I've had them in the past and yes they looked like that.
