Does anyone know why I may be getting these random black marks on white washing ?? I will try to add the photos. My machine is just about a year old.

What sort of detergent are you using?
Do you do maintenance washes at a high temperature with no clothes in? Have you cleaned out the filter and dispenser drawer?

I used Ariel liquid in the little pot which goes in the drum with some vanish liquid which went in the drawer and just a tiny bit of pure comfort fabric conditioner. It’s a Samsung eco bubble which tells me when to to a clean . I haven’t checked the filter I will do that soon.

I dont like liquids as they don't keep the drum clean like powders do. I have a Samsung ecobubble too but use powder

Liquids don't contain the bleaching agents powders do. The combination of liquids and lower temperature, shorter wash cycles can mean the inside of the machine is a breeding ground for bacteria which can gum up the machine and make it smelly and inefficient.

So I took the filter out and dropped the tray of water all over the floor Shock never mind! It only had very little fluff/sludge so I cleaned it out and now doing a eco drum clean. So maybe I should changed to a powder then? Sounds like it might clean the clothes better too??

Have you checked the folds of the door seal for gunk? I had an Ecobubble and socks regularly spent half the wash in the door seal and came out covered in black marks. Awful machine. Worst I've ever had.

Omg I have this sock issue too, it drives me mad having a super wet sock that needs to go again in the next wash. Yes I check the seal after every wash as my husband is terrible for leaving money/screws in his work trousers!

You could have a look on the thread:

‘I developed laundry detergents AMA’

Perhaps there might be a similar question on there or you could post one?

I’m inclined to think it’s something to do with the rubber seal though if it’s black, as the mark is black but I’m just guessing!

Small socks go in a laundry bag and it stops them ending up in the rubber seal

That's an awful lot of extra work to get around a problem which just doesn't happen with other machines. It's just poor design, basically, and they charge a lot of money for the privilege of constantly bagging and unbagging anything smaller than a t-shirt.

dementedpixie · 10/10/2021 14:29

It's not much extra work as I put bras in the laundry bag too. It's only trainer liner type socks it happens with. Everything else tends to be ok

I’m going to give the laundry bag idea a go for the sock issue, it only happens with the kids socks here!
