Jen I wrote to Jim'll fix it asking to go to see Starlight Express when I was little I have no idea what the story is - would a six year old girl enjoy it?

Luda Yesterday sounds like a good day

I have
~folded and put away all clean, dry washing. ~Made up the kids beds in clean bedding
~tidied kids bedrooms (how long will they stay tidy on a wet Sunday?)
~put 1st load of washing in

Need to
~tidy master bedroom (bit of a dump at the mo)
~change bedding on my bed
~send dh out in the rain to get lightbulbs (perils of being married to an Electrician - he "borrows" lightbulbs all the time, utility room has been dark for a couple of weeks now )
~sort bookcases on landing (no idea what is in half the boxes on there...)
~sort utility room (properly this time!)

Is Starlight Express the one where they are all on roller skates? If so I have seen it and from what I can remember it would be great for a 6 year old. I went about 10 years ago...maybe longer! Can't remember the story particularly, just that they all whizzed about on skates! (My memory is particularly crap )

Well my routine is comming along nicely, need to tidy and hoover next.

ludaloolovesmincepies · 09/12/2007 09:53

Starlight Express Clip

It was the roller skate one LOL!

ludaloolovesmincepies · 09/12/2007 10:03

Ok...Quick question to you loveley FLY peeps...
Does anyone else buy the HUGE boxes of washing powder? I usually buy liquid capsules, which can be stored under the sink, but when shopping with DH he persuaded me that it is more econimical to buy the huge boxes of powder...but...
WHERE THE FRICK ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO PUT THE SAID HUGE BOX?
Where do you all store your washing powder? It is just sat on the worktop at the moment.

BiancaCastafiore · 09/12/2007 10:08

Luda It is the roller skate one. I think I'll look into tickets, if its not too pricey I'll try to take dd (and perhaps dh and ds too...).
We use Ecover washing liquid which I've never seen in large bottles so can't help with the storage probs of large boxes. We're lucky having a utility room cos everything like that is stored away in there

Happy birthday babyFGS

Had a nice time out last night. The meal was good and my 1st foray into Greek food. Fitful night's sleep tho compounded by Ed getting up and throwing up down the staircase

DH is ill (he really is) so I get up, sort Ed out, make up a camp for him in the front room and get on with last night's/this morning's jobs

So FLYing done

Clean soot out of fire
Sort out dry/drying washing on the fireguard
empty DW
Put away
Tidy up from last night's DH cooking activities
Take down drying washing
Load TD and run
Make breakfast for a pasty looking Ed and me
Tidy round

DH has got up and is keeping an eye on Ed. I'm catching up on some sleep

To Do

Write Christmas cards for Ed for school
Sort out an ironing pile
Vac downstairs
Vac staircase
Do Ironing
Lay clothes out for tomorrow
Clean shoes

Must sleep now. TTFN

ludaloolovesmincepies · 09/12/2007 11:36

Glad you had a good evening GO sorry to hear dh and ed are ill though Hope they make a speedy recovery.

I have done pretty well so far,
~D/W unloaded/reloaded and running
~2 loads of washing
~Beds made
~Living room tidy
~Kitchen tidy
~Downstairs hoovered throughout
~Fire made

Now I'm going to prepare lunch, decided to do a bit of a buffet...
~Cheese and ham pasta
~Pork pie
~Salad
~Potato salad
~Crusty bread
~Ham

Not really a traditional sunday lunch family really. I'm contemplating doing a buffet for xmas lunch too, as I know everyone will eat it and it is less faff!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 09/12/2007 12:07

Happy birthday LittleGlassslipper
GO Glad you had a good evening. Sorry to here your DH and DS are poorly. Speedy recovery for both of them!

Luda Glad you had a lovely day yesterday. No idea re washing powder. I can only get small boxes of tablets in local shop!

Bianca Starlight express sounds like a lovely idea. I want to take my lot to a panto but its just too expensive.Maybe next year!

Not getting much done so far today! Made some cakes though and tidied round kitchen.

Promised DD2 she could have a go on PC with my help. Had to pop on here 1st though!

BiancaCastafiore · 09/12/2007 12:09

Lunch sounds yummy Luda, but judging by your facebook page you won't have room for lunch anyway - crumpets and muffins already this morning?!

Grouchy hope Ed and dh get well soon x I've never really had Greek food, what do they serve up?

I'm loosing the will to live with sorting out the bookcase! We have a huge bookcase which runs the length of our landing and is always full of books (obviously) but also anything else which will fit just gets shoved onto the shelves or into storage boxes which fit along the bottom. I've started at one end and have hardly made any progress - I'm rearranging all the books into size order and then rearranging all the shelf heights to fit them in better! It's very dusty up the top (high ceilings too!) and I can't really reach very well, even standing on a chair. Can I just give up now please?

Dh has gone out with the kids to get lightbulbs and now my bro has just called to say he'll be calling in in an hour! The breakfast things are still on the table
[hangs head in shame]

x posts, hello Tort

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 09/12/2007 12:17

That sounds like a huge job Bianca. You don't have to do it all in one go though. Do say 15 mins on that then go and do something else for a bit and come back to it!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 09/12/2007 12:23

Something has happenned to my MSN. I can't get into it.I had a message saying it had had a critical error. No idea what that means. Is yous ok Bianca?
Can't get onto MyEbay section either.

BiancaCastafiore · 09/12/2007 12:51

I'm online on MSN Tort - hope you can work your out at the thought of no MSN!!!

The bookcases do need to be done in one go - you can't even get into mine or dds bedroom at the moment because of all the crap in the way ....
Dh just came home and said "you do realise you've started a job which'll take you till midnight to finish?!" AGH! Yes I know that, didn't need him to tell me

OP posts:
ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 09/12/2007 13:15

Oh dear Bianca. Hope it doesn't take that long.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 09/12/2007 15:37

Still no MSN. I have tried removing it to download it again but download doesn't seem to work.
Bianca Am i showing on your MSN? Can you try and send me a message when you are about please? See if that reaches me!

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 09/12/2007 17:41

Just written a whole bunch of Christmas cards, ones for the family with Ed's school photo in, ones for those I know personally and ones for Ed for school. Next year I won't do it for environmental reasons!

Then I composed a long e-mail re funding for my mums group
and it's tea time so.....byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

TheMincePiedMadHouse · 09/12/2007 19:35

Evening all

We have had quite a lasy day in the mad household. Outside icicle lights are up and we visited MIL and FIL, then watched Mary Poppins and have lazy family bath time.

I have popped a load in the washer and then have a white wash to do.

No Christmas cards from me, only to the oldies in the families who wouldnt understand. we always donate what we would have spent on cards to the NSPCC and just e-mail everyone else - Yes partly because I am lasy, although I do have all the address' on a mail merge on the PC (yes I am anal)

Have got to make a batch of fudge for the playgroup leader as Christmas party is tomorrow from DS1 - so off I go.

BiancaCastafiore · 09/12/2007 21:09

Hi Tort, you are showing as offline on my MSN I have sent you an offline message just in case... Hope it gets sorted!

Grouchy and TMH well done on the Christmas cards/fudge etc - all very well organised!

We took the photos of dd and ds to go on our Christmas cards today - it's just a case of making them up now. I'm cheating and scanning our signatures this year too so I should be able to get away with just writing the envelopes

Dh and I have just finished the bookcase. It actually didn't take as long as I'd expected - we've had two sets of visitors this afternoon and been out for drinks at a neighbours house so haven't been able to focus on the clear out till after the kids were in bed at 7.30. It looks great though, well worth the effort

Have remembered that ds stays for his first lunch at school tomorrow so I need to make him up a lunchbox - have nothing much in for lunches so am not sure what strange combination of food he'll have yet...

OP posts:
Jas · 09/12/2007 21:11

I'm reducing the number of cards I do this year, too. Cant bring myself to give cards to friends and neighbours I see all the time, so I'm telling them now that they won't be getting a card from me.

Happy birthday Baby Slipper
I need to get off the computer and sort out invitations to my pre christmas open house that I've decided to do.....

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 09/12/2007 21:13

I can't get MSN back. I have tried downloading but i can't find it anywhere on PC. I don't know what else to try.
Isn't it less personal to not sign each card? Do you send loads? I don't have too many to send. Photos all printed and fixed into photo cards. I just need to write them.
Glad you got the book case sorted.

Jas · 09/12/2007 21:18

I don't do enough to not sign them either

BiancaCastafiore · 09/12/2007 21:21

Oh nooooooo Tort!!!!

We send at least 70 cards - dh has a HUGE extended family so we end up sending out loads of card to all the Aunties, Uncles, cousins, cousins childrens etc etc... I like the idea of all the elderly rellies seeing how good dd and ds are getting at writing their own names so the scanning seemed a good idea - this way they have writen their names nicely but I can get on and send the cards without making the kids sit and write their names seperatly 70 times! I hope people won't mind/notice! do you think it's naughty this way?

There are a few friends locally who we don't send or recieve cards from which makes a lot of sence as we see them to wish them a happy Christmas anyway.

Nice idea to have an open house Jas
