How to clean sofas and rugs without calling in a professional company?

Because I don't want strong chemicals all over the house and I'm sure that's what they would use in the machine..

Do you have any suggestions as to how to freshen up sofas and armchairs without a machine?

Thank you

Well we have a Bissell carpet cleaner, we use it with the supplied detergent, you will need a detergent though.

OK, I'll look it up. Thank you

The foam carpet and upholstery cleaner from Poundland I love it. I tin will clean a 2 seater sofa. You spray it on and rub with a cloth or sponge (not with a scourer). It dries really quickly too. Heavy soil areas will need going over twice or more don't expect miracles. In my experience you have to rub quite a bit to lift the dirt out but I think it's pretty good and it doesn't smell that bad.

It's as good as vanish £6 a tin!

I clean my rugs with Dr Beckham carpet cleaner. B&M have it.
So it has a little scrubby top. I did mine yesterday and dried with a hairdryer so it doesn't get that damp smell.

@stirling I second the Dr Beckman carpet cleaner for the rug.

Thanks for sharing the pics Snowdropsandbluebells, do you use it with a special hoover? Or manually apply to rugs?

You just rub it in. It's in a squeeze bottle with a brush top.

So I make sure to go evenly in circles so the same amount of product gets used/ spread

Then dry with a hairdryer to puff it up.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 10/10/2021 18:52

There's no strong smell from it.
