I need to get off my arse

Really not feeling great today and just want to slob with my laptop, but the place is a tip, so to motivate myself I'm setting myself a challenge - get off my arse and do 100 things to make things better, then I can chill. I thought I'd post them here in batches of 10 so you lot can sort of hold me accountable! Feel free to join in with your own targets/achievements if it'd help to motivate you!

Batch One - Bathroom:

  1. Take (now dry) hairdye flavoured showercaps off side of bath and put them back in drawer
  1. Screw cap back on toothpaste and put it and toothbrush in glass

3.Empty remaining contents of mouthwash bottle into waterflosser and put bottle in recycling

  1. Put mini travel bottles of shampoo and conditioner back in washbag
  1. Fold up yesterday's jeans that I'd left strewn on bathroom floor
  1. Recycle random empty cotton buds box left in cupboard
  1. Restock loo rolls
  1. Locate little plastic anti-tooth-grinding thingy and repatriate to special box
  1. Refold bathtowel and bathmat
  1. Put flannels in wash

There! That was actual very quick. One down, nine to go!

Can I join? My lists will be slightly shorter and I'm 40 weeks pregnant so may take me longer to complete but I really need to get back on top of things after having a lazy week.

Firstly, Kitchen:

  1. Wash up
  2. Wipe sides
  3. Wipe stove top down
  4. Put washing up away
  5. Get rubbish tied up and ready to be taken out to the bin by DP when he gets home from work
Aquamarine1029 · 07/10/2021 18:51

Well done!

GertietheGherkin · 07/10/2021 18:57

I'm following this... I love a list 🥰

Pickles89 · 07/10/2021 19:16

Batch Four - utility/cloakroom:

  1. Hang up previous washing
  1. Put a load on
  1. Hand wash bikini tops
  1. Roll waterproof trousers up and repack in bag
  1. Iron jeans and put away
  1. Fold socks and put away
  1. Make dog's water nice and fresh
  1. Sweep floor
  1. Iron teatowels and put in drawer
  1. Draw curtains

Four down, Six to go! This is getting boring now...

@Pickles89 I am all for a list honestly, and without in anyway trying to be negative - couldn’t you have just done those things without making a list and be done in less than a quarter of the time?

Only what you have listed I would consider ‘add ons’ to the rest of my jobs that day....

Jez, just read that back and it does sound a bit mean but it is true, well for me anyway. Good for you for motivating yourself seriously x

NetflixAddict · 07/10/2021 19:25

Well done @Pickles89!

Next list for me - Bathroom:

  1. Clean loo
  2. Clean bathroom sink
  3. Spray shower down
  4. Wipe bathroom mirror
  5. Mop bathroom floor
Workinghardeveryday · 07/10/2021 19:25

Read my post again and feel mean!

Sorry op - maybe I am just really really bitter that all the house shite whatever it is is my problem to sort!

Keep at it, your list sounds thought out, organised and doo able 😊

flapjackfairy · 07/10/2021 19:37

You iron tea towels,??

grapewine · 07/10/2021 19:42

You iron jeans and tea towels?

Surely that's two chores you can stop doing.

justthecat · 07/10/2021 19:59

Ok I’ll give you that .. I couldn’t do both at same time 🤩

BrutusMcDogface · 08/10/2021 10:19

Sometimes it’s good to write a list of things you HAVE done, rather than things you need to do. Maybe that’s what OP is doing. When it’s in black and white you can see what you’ve achieved even though it feels like you haven’t done much.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 08/10/2021 10:21

I would have a lot of those done by the time I wrote them out Wink

Chicchicchicchiclana · 08/10/2021 11:30

There's lists and then there's lists.

I started feeling really rough yesterday and still do today, so not made much progress on my 100 things! Still,

Batch five - here and there:

  1. Tested random loose batteries, recycled dead ones
  1. Ordered protective case for my v. expensive external hard drive
  1. Picked up car from garage
  1. Ironed a bunch of tops (yes, I do ironing! I don't like creased clothes, and ironing teatowels mean they fit nicely in the drawer)
  1. Tidied my cyclamen, got rid of the dead leaves and flowers
  1. Advertised old chair on FB marketplace
  1. Put emergency money in car
  1. Put 2 random teaspoons I found lying around in dishwasher
  1. Dusted and polished bedroom furniture
  1. Repatriated sellotape reel to dispenser

Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow as I want to tackle the playroom!
