Dealing with black mouldy shower sealant

So the shower in our ensuite is pretty mouldy. Black mould all over the sealant at the base, and in a lot of the grout.

It's our only bathroom with a bath in, so we bath our baby in the same (tiny) mouldy bathroom (though the sealant and grout around the bath are fine)...and he is also still sleeping in our room, close to the ensuite door, at night.

We're trying to work out the best solution that's also safe for baby (if we should even be concerned?). DH thinks that using mould remover products or digging out the sealant and starting again will release spores and make it unsafe for baby to be in the house for several days afterwards. Is that right? We don't currently have any family nearby so it would be quite an upheaval if we needed to do this. He thinks it's safer to just leave it be for the time being?

What do you think/ what have you used or done?

Mix bicarbonate of soda with bleach and paint it on.

Magic stuff

Removed mould from grout very successfully with a paste of lemon juice and bicarb recently. Mixed it to consistency that didn’t run too quickly, left it on for about 15 minutes then scrubbed off with a small brush. Came up clean pretty quickly. Don’t know if it will work on silicone but worth a try?

I swear by this method. I think it works better than just spraying bleach spray or whatever - he explains why. I do it fairly regularly as having resealed the bath and shower twice its just something that flares up. I leave it for a few hours with the window open and it goes away for a few months. Honestly it's so pathetic but I was so pleased when I discovered this.

Resealing it works for roughly the same amount of time as the method I linked before it came back. This is way less effort

Another vote for the HG mould stuff...

Cillit Bang, the black/purple bottle is very good. As is the Dettol Mould and Mildew remover.

I used that awful stuff (cillit) to help to clean my daughter’s rented bathroom several years ago. Had a sore through, cough and burning chest for several weeks afterwards, started within minutes of spraying it. Wouldn’t use it anywhere near a baby.
