Tumble drier

I really need to finally get a tumble drier, I have 4 children and drying clothes takes days in my house, the only space I can fit one is my dining room as my kitchen is a tiny council kitchen. Would you put a tumble drier in a dining room? Has anyone got one not in the kitchen?

Yes I would, it'll look no worse than an airer.

I'd put it in any room it would fit in, as long as it meant I got a tumble dryer. When ours broke down we had about three weeks without it and it rained constantly. Would never be without one again and will always find room for one no matter how small the house!

Ours is actually in a brick shed/outbuilding thing. If we didn't have the shed I'd investigate whether it could go into a big cupboard that used to house the hot water cylinder before we got a new combi boiler. But failing that I'd have it in a corner of the dining room.

I saw a tip on tiktok today which I am going to try tomorrow. Put a normal cold household fan in front of your airer. Its got to be worth a go at least.

When I had four kids and a small house, we had the tumble drier on the landing (didn't work) and then in bedroom.

To this day, my adult son remembers being called in from the garden for arguing, sitting on top of the tumble drier in his room and reading the Harry Potter book I'd got from the library.

He has been a lifelong HP fan, and credits his love of reading on that day.

thanks everyone, good point about having a tumble drier being better than having a clothes airer. Which we have two of the ugly things in the dining room anyway! Definitely going to go ahead and get one, I’ve put it off for so long but I just can’t keep up with the washing anymore.
