Pumpkin spice and ghost abound, fledglings flying through the crazy

Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

Grin

Lots of early risers, night wakers and late to bedders. Hope you are not too pooped. Brew

Dance - Boosty is the name for our Eufy robovac. It's been life changing tbh. I've never had stuff on the floor (except for DS toys) so that's not the issue. The issue is we both hate hoovering so we would put it off until we couldn't take it anymore and then it would've exhausting when we finally got round to it. He comes out most days. Effortlessly clean. Game changer. I know you have young children so keeping the floor tidy may be nigh impossible but perhaps it would encourage them to put their toys away downstairs of an evening? If Boosty is going into DS's room I give him 24 hours notice so he can tidy away his toys Grin

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 29/10/2021 09:05

I am really tempted to ask for a robot vac for christmas, can they eat the food under my dining table

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/10/2021 10:44

Hope your day goes well Zoo and lil zoo has a good birthday

those you need a dog. will happily clean up under the dining table for you, provide entertainment although add work and expense in other ways

Sorry stupid tired and another day which requires a megalist. I am running out of days and there is soooo much that needs doing.

it would at least 2 of the 3 bins were collected. And not the 2 that were supposed to be collected this week. So that is a good start.

move tank to new location
set up to look pretty
wash plastic storage tubs
wash all the sharp knives ready for sharpening monday
clear the dining room table
pot up the poor monstera
wash dehydrator trays

set up the seed trays ready for getting going - windowsil salad is popular

finish taming frutility room
finish taming/cleaning kitchen
aim to finish taming dining room
water change etc on main fish tank
water house plants
hoover and wash floors through 3 rooms tamed.
sort out car stuffs and get back into car

pretend that there is plenty of time to get everything done and normal people can't walk through their lounge due to the number of boxes there.

if it is friday it is clean out your car and date night

may you all have gentle days and achieve what is needed.

Depends on the size but yes, those, they can. Crumbs, small cereal bits, tiny pieces of toast etc.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 29/10/2021 13:23

Thanks Hills. Hope you get what is needful done too.

Those our robohoover knock-off (a Vileda) blocked too easily and kept getting stuck under cupboards. We gave Wendy away to my Mum for upstairs cleaning after she mounted a music stand in an effort to have her evil way with it. 🤣 Also, the dog hated it.

Dancing, MrsT , very sorry the relentless negativity is getting you down. It's part of the reason we don't see FIL often, as he cannot be positive about anything, ever.

Today it is wildly stormy here. Ta da:
❤️ Got up and made pancakes for DS3 as the End of Half Term treat
🧡 Flew dog like a kite on our walk. Heavens opened just as we got home
💛 Dry LOL folded from airer, LOL DH put in washer now in dryer / hung
💚 Ordered birthday presents for DD as Etsy can be slow
💜 DH has done complicated Christmas gift planning that I can't get my head around
💙 Agreed to move understairs Trofast so DH can shampoo hall carpet later

To do:
☔ Hoover downstairs
🤿 Wash hoover filters
☔ Put Tesco order away when it arrives (3-4)
🤿 Scoop out pumpkins so Dd and DS3 can carve them
☔ Steam and freeze pumpkin flesh, roast seeds with chilli and salt
🤿 Find place for DH's new very complicated dog-puzzles to live (hint: not on the kitchen work surfaces)
☔ Order pizza, drink wine, watch Foundation with DH for date night (try not to confuse Foundation with Dune. Most likely fail!).

Dancingtomusic · 29/10/2021 14:18

Willow- you have given me an idea what to do with the pumpkin carvings.
'Dog like a kite' 😆

Hills- hope you have energy to do stuff.

Yup- it may change my life - i loove hoovering....it the stuff that stops me. But i am on a misson to put shit away.

Zoo- 🎂🎂🎂 Happy birthday lil zoo! 🎂🎂🎂

Dh took me to a local cafe for breakfast.
I told him my plans for the downstairs to be vistor ready - he understood.
Might have to take a very very large piece of ikea furniture upstairs to try and empty sitting room of stuff.

ScreamToTheSky · 29/10/2021 15:12

I haven’t looked into robot vacuums because I’m too worried I’d have to tidy up before switching it on 🤣

Fairly nice morning, I haven’t really got anything else done.

However the sofa has arrived!

Find myself looking at this:

uk.eufylife.com/products/t2128

Do they actually work Yup?

YupIFreakilyHave · 29/10/2021 16:03

Can't get to the link honey but we have a basic one and it does work really well. Just be mindful of rug fringe (we don't have rugs with fringes) and trailing leads. I wouldn't be within our little Boosty. He does need a bit of tlc but it's easy to access and clean the fiddly bits. The Eufy threads here say that customer service is very good too, although I've never used them. I only get my hoover out about once a month for cleaning nooks and crannies (under sofa cushions and behind tele etc).

Black Friday deals are coming up. Just saying. Smile

merryhouse · 29/10/2021 16:03

Willow - oh that's easy.

Dune is the one with the impenetrable prose but drugs and exciting monsters.

Foundation is the easy-reading one with not much worldbuilding, the mathematical genius who predicts the future, the powergrab genius who disrupts that, and the Token Girl Heroine (but because it's Isaac not Robert at least she doesn't have sex).

YupIFreakilyHave · 29/10/2021 16:04

Sofa looks comfy scream Smile

merryhouse · 29/10/2021 16:05

I did read all of Dune (eventually - and skimming bits). I may even have read all of Foundation - certainly I got as far as Blissenobiarella and the Gaia scenario.

Dancingtomusic · 29/10/2021 17:37

Scream- i love your new sofa!

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 29/10/2021 18:55

@merryhouse

I did read all of Dune (eventually - and skimming bits). I may even have read all of Foundation - certainly I got as far as Blissenobiarella and the Gaia scenario.
I have read neither - came to Dune too late, and I loathe Asimov for some reason - but they both star dark-haired young men with flicky hair who gaze wistfully after young women on the screen versions.

I'm toast!

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/10/2021 20:47

singlovely sofa
Thanks birthday wishes.lil zoo has a bit of overwhelm so we departed town very fast
She shopped online, watched fave show with me this afternoon and we had dominoes pizza for dinner, followed by cake
She's now going to have a bath

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 29/10/2021 23:15

Ah, Lilzoo's annual wash. Thought it mist be about now! 🤣🤣

HauntingHazel · 30/10/2021 06:00

Happy belated birthday lil zoo! I don't know how she can go so long without a shower or bath, but I love to feel clean.
scream I love your sofa ❤
hills why is there so much to do with a time crunch? I must have missed it.
Those sorry to hear baby isn't cooperating with you. I have found, from experience, they either like to make you look like a liar, or get your hopes up and crush any dreams of sleep your may have had 🤣 I do hope you were able to get back to sleep though.

I'm super tired. DD and I went shopping tonight to get food in for the party tomorrow. There's so much to do tomorrow and I'm way too tired to do any more tonight. There will be a lot to do to get ready, but we're planning on going to the local straw maze and pumpkin patch tomorrow, before the party. I'll make my to do list tomorrow while drinking my coffee before I get cracking. But right now I'm going to bed.
Night all and 🍒👋 to everyone

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 30/10/2021 07:25

So the little one slept through til 5, seems it might just be a bit hit and miss.

Took dc to the library yesterday, plus got more stuff photographed and advertised online. Also wrapped and sent some sold items. Total made has now passed £100. Although its helping me declutter i am actually making a lot of mess doing it and it might take a while to look like we actually have less stuff Blush

Sofa looks good scream

How old is lilzoo now zoo? 14?

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/10/2021 07:53

Yeh,14....

Hope today others are helpful hazel and you can delegate some stuff

I've had horrific period pains all night so not much sleep has happened.feels decidedly cold today

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 30/10/2021 07:59

zoo ive been suffering period pains too, mostly in my back which seems to have started since baby was born, doubling up on paracetamol and ibruprofen Sad

Ta da

🍁 baby fed and changed
🎃 dryer on
🍂 few bits on vinted

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/10/2021 08:28

You didn't miss it Sing i didn't share the reasons.
But basically there are a lot of priorities that need to be higher priority than sorting out the house, but the house is non negotiable with the building work that is built in.
So there are rooms I want done and completed by Sunday evening. There is NO wiggle or catch up time available in the schedule. It just has to be done.

Right, awake. Pissed about on internet for a bit (caught up with some online learning), grateful to have cancelled this mornings walk - it is very very wet and wind and by the feels of it - cold out there.

Saturday is family fun day. But do not feel you HAVE to spend it with family or actually have fun if that is not how today will go.
Hope you have good days that are as pain free as possible.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/10/2021 08:42

Sorry it was Hazel that asked about the time crunch. Blush

I swear i need more coffee and a holiday.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 30/10/2021 08:49

That mines mostly back and into my legs and thighs.will be a day of doing, stopping and hot water bottles I think
Need work on the baby blanket too

StillUpSpooking · 30/10/2021 08:56

Very little flying from my end on Thursday and Friday. We enjoyed our day out on Thursday, and then yesterday was mostly taken up by a hospital appointment and a nap. I did however give the shark some proper TLC, do some laundry and move some more things about to clear room for the decorator. DH tackled the garage which is the clearest and tidiest it has ever been since we moved in, and there is now space to store some stuff in there next week if needed.

Today and tomorrow there is much to do - buying of paint, furniture removal, cleaning of mouldy patches, wiping of paintwork, trying to keep the clothes, shoes and coats we’ll need for the week accessible without anything in the hall and no bedroom furniture… I should really clear the big ironing pile too as there is going to be nowhere to put it or iron after the weekend.

Currently I’m having breakfast with DD, having put an LOL in and reclaiming the kitchen that we were too lazy to do last night. DH has made a start on emptying his wardrobe. DD has a birthday party today so at least she is getting some fun amongst the chaos

Good luck with your hectic schedule this weekend Hills.

Star for baby Those.

DD is very excited to be a big sister Mc, however I fear the reality may not live up to expectation Grin

Love the sofa Scream! I’d love one like that but the due to position of the window, door, radiator, alcoves and log burner a corner sofa is a dream out of reach.

Hope the long chat made you feel better Tidy. I have a work colleague who is very negative and that’s draining enough without having to live with it

Enjoy the party Hazel!

Dancingtomusic · 30/10/2021 09:44

Up- hope you have fun picking paints! Aww so cute your dd is looking forward to being a big sister!

So...around 7am I decided we might go pumpkin picking....looks lovely in the picture.
8am opened the curtains and its bloody pissing it down here - damm! I dont think it would be enjoyable in the muddy rain.
