Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

Grin

I did a lft last night. It was negative - no symptoms then.

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 11/10/2021 16:22

Pcr i mean ffs

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 16:25

Oh no yup! :( I hope it’s negative and you feel better ASAP.

Lesson was pretty good, and meeting with my manager was great despite tech issues. I am nervous about how much I have to learn but excited to get started!

Came downstairs to absolute mayhem as we are sorting stuff in the living room and there is random crap EVERYWHERE.

YupIFreakilyHave · 11/10/2021 16:35

Ugh and oh no. I'll have to book a pcr test for tonight then. Results are coming back within 24 hours so should be in work for Wednesday, I guess, if it's negative.

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 17:15

Right. DH has left with DS for tae kwon do (no, autocarrot, not tae Kevin do!) and the living room is an absolute state.

po3.4
❗️Make sure boxes are as full as possible (but that nothing needed urgently has been lost in them), our kids on and stack them
❗️Clean emptied 2x4 Kallax that needs to go upstairs later
❗️Eat something and relax properly

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 11/10/2021 19:26

🤣🤣🤣 at Tae Kevin Do Scream. I believe you may have invented a new discipline!

Dancingtomusic · 11/10/2021 20:29

Scream -
Are you Tae kevin Do (ing) your living room?

I am back to the land of the the living after my horrible head cold. I am very happy to report, I Tae kevin doed, my sitting room today. 3/4 of it looks lovely I might attach a photo tomo. (I moved bags and boxes and toddler desk into dd room.)

Hope everyone is ok? Brew hot chocolate in naughty corner. Mmm, apple crumble and custard is so comforting.

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 20:33

I also seem to have our kids on boxes instead of “put lids” 😳

Eesh I’m shattered. Living room still an awful mess, a lamp and both can openers have broken today too. Caglets are just putting stuff back on the Kallax that has been successfully moved into the cupboard upstairs. Four big boxes now have lids (not kids!) on. Progress.

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2021 20:38

It get's terribly confusing to stay on top of everything when it gets so muddied with various advice doesn't it Thosecobwebs

Urm not really done anything much on today's to do list.

Fingers crossed that you get sorted pretty quick yup
Blooming heck scream your autocorrect got opinions?

OP posts:
IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 11/10/2021 21:09

Oh no, Yup, hope it's just a generalised lurgy.

Glad you are feeling better today Dancing, I love the idea of taking a room that's gone a bit Pontpridd and Tae Kevin Do'ing it.

Scream maybe kids in boxes would help with general tidiness? 🤔

I have a long list of tadas today.
❤️ Found out what was for dinner and got it out of the freezer (chilli for us, chicken for DS3)
🧡 LOL 1 onto the line
💛 Bed stripped and into the wash as LOL 2
💚 Spoke to DM
💙 Talked down DS3 who was upset about his PE and PSHE tasks
💜 Finally got some desk stuff done - emails read, and actioned, other emails sent, phone calls made about medical stuff and received about client stuff
❤️ Ate end of leftover lasagne for lunch
🧡 Hung out LOL 2
💛 Took car to be fixed
💚 Collected DD who has been talking my ear off solidly since about a quarter to four! But so pleased she had a positive day.
💙 Put pesto chicken in to cook for DS3
💚 Tried about 30 mins client work. Was rudimentary at best.
💜 DD mentioned chips, so DH decided he wanted them with his chilli, so I drove DD up to the chippy.
❤️ Returned and served dinner
🧡 Felt very full of carbs and rather useless so got washing off line and ironed it immediately. Obviously out of practice as it took 45 minutes and I am exhausted. DH now grumpy with me because I "have not rested enough".
💛 Remade bed with DH
💚 Collapsed on bed too tired to do anything more than scroll on MN / Twitter while DD continued to tell me about her day.

I am now in the bath and DS3 is in bed (I hope). Tomorrow I have my repeat ECG at 11.15 which is going to eat a minimum of 90 minutes of my day, then I need to try to get the work I didn't do today, done.

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 21:56

Might help me tomorrow TBF when I have to watch a perfectly-fine-but-not-allowed-at-nursery three year old and attend a team meeting online at the same time 😳 🤣 ah well, part of me feels it’ll break the ice a bit (staff are basically all parent carers so for internal meetings childcare issues are not a problem; I seem to have landed on my feet with a very family friendly employer!)

I suppose instead of a box I’ll have to have a lot of activities on standby. :o

Trying to think what else I can do tonight to help prepare the room but I’m thinking bed would be a better plan.

po3.5
❗️Fill and put lids (hurrah it didn’t change this time!) on last two big boxes
❗️Jig things about on living room Kallax to give current home ed stuff a clearly defined spot to live in during the chaos
❗️Take a couple of bits upstairs so they don’t get packed badly and squished (piano pedal, comb binder etc…) and put unwanted Phoenix comics in selling cupboard

Mc3209 · 11/10/2021 22:23

Willow that's an impressive list, you've been busy. I am sorry to hear about your friend. Hope ECG goes to plan.
Scream sounds like you are settling into your new job nicely! What line of work will you be in?

Sending health vibes to all those poorly.

Ta das:
🌟Finally finished sorting out McBaby's outgrown clothes. The donation pile is now sorted by age, the ones to keep is now vacuum packed and up in storage.
🌟Marie Kondo-ed McBaby's existing wardrobe
🌟Rubber brush to carpet
🌟Demoulded the entrance hall
🌟Usual routines and kitchen clean up

My mission this week is to sort out spare room. It has been a dumping ground for baby stuff we no longer use. It still looks chaotic, despite me sorting out all the clothes..

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 23:10

Argh mc I hate that feeling when you do loads of sorting but everything still looks a mess 😭 I liken household sorting to bailing out the titanic with a thimble.

I’m working for a charity BTW, it supports and represents parents of children with SEND :) definitely a “right up my street” sort of role although I’m still a bit nervous about the admin side!

Off to bed at last. Living room looks a bit less terrible, and is pretty much ready for the floor inspecting person tomorrow. Unfortunately I was about to get into bed when I realised that Cagletini had wet herself but all sorted now and TBH I’d much rather it be now than when I’d been asleep an hour.

Lots more to do tomorrow but likely no decorating prep as no time. Just have to see what is going to happen with the floor and figure out a plan I suppose.

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 23:16

I seriously need to sort my zoom background too. I can’t keep shoving random crap on my bed and moving it back at night 😳🤣 (I know a fake background is an option but IME that only works if you stay dead still!)

There is so much STUFF in my house. I was quite shocked at how much I have to sell too, now it’s all been shelved on a Kallax - it’s about 10 cubes’ worth! 😬 There are still things I need to sort (a few games/books I can’t decide on, some outgrown toys I can’t currently access as the new flooring is in the way…) but I really have to just accept I can’t wait longer and get on with photographing and posting on FB locally.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/10/2021 05:31

Not a great sleep after a difficult end to the day with both girls being hard work after-school
I should've done an evening meditation.oh well,lesson learned!
Will do my morning one shortly and get up

ScreamToTheSky · 12/10/2021 09:17

Sorry you had a rough evening.

It’s quiet here this morning! I’ve been awake a while but haven’t really done anything productive.

po3.1
❗️Get dressed and sort hair (hedge, backwards etc)
❗️Figure out the best way to have meeting and watch Cagletini - thinking DH’s tablet in living room and lean against the bookcase - and set up, forward link etc
❗️Make sure some different toys/activities are available

ScreamToTheSky · 12/10/2021 09:32

Why does a toy being in a lidded tub mean it’s instantly the one toy they must play with RIGHT NOW

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/10/2021 10:09

Hi,

Takes cinnamon whirls to naughty corner and joins those in there procrastinating.

Going out in the garden.
Yesterday
Cut back the leaves on the tomatoes.
Ate three strawberries, yes, we still have strawberries growing in the greenhouse shhh they don’t know it is October and they live in the north shh don’t tell them!
Going to empty some potato bags. About five in the raised bed but bags that were never filled had more.
Going to tidy all the fruit and veg area.

Will pop back later.

Can somebody tell why Flylady tells people to fling shower gel and shampoo? Just use it. If you get some that you really can’t stand wash your feet in it. I can’t afford to fling out good products. Most are lovely smells anyway. I have a laundry box. All spare soap, shower gel, toothpaste goes in there. Tidy. Always have replacement and spare toothbrush in case of unexpected guest ( new , of course) and out of sight.
I don’t have a spare room.
Three bedroom cottage. Tiny bedroom is now craft room of doom.
DH sleeps in what was boys bedroom. I sleep in our bedroom. Works for us. Rarely have visitors and if we do he decamps back to my room.
I can recommend it. If I want the light on and read at 3am I can. No bed hogging, no smelly farts, no very loud snoring( well there is but that’s me) and tv, iPad, book, sleep etc my choice😁

Will try and catch up this afternoon.

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/10/2021 12:40

ta da
decide what cut i want for my hair - going back to a fringe
deep condition hair
reduce length of hair
apply patch test - will be dying it.
find address for important letter
get dressed (morning are slow atm)
copy paper work and find envelope for sending.

leaving the house which should hopefully make me feel a bit more willing to be productive.

I'm not feeling it today either hills
Keep having days were I'm really foggy headed, sluggish and my body aches.its happening more frequently, and no amount rest/sleep makes me feel better and trying to power thru I just get more unable to think...anyone got any suggestions?
Walking/moving makes me breathless when I'm like it
I've tried drinking more water, more carbs, less carbs/more protein/more sugar to boost my energy.all failed miserably

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/10/2021 13:08

Going to be honest, it sounds like emotional burnout. time and healing is the only solution. Sorry to be no help. It sucks horrid.
