Long time lurker, first time poster here, hoping to tap into the collective wisdom and experience of MN...
Had new polypropylene carpet installed a couple of weeks ago and also bought a new large wool rug. In the last couple of days I've seen two fleas, found what looks like a carpet beetle larva this evening and to cap it off my DH thinks he found a bedbug in his pants yesterday. We've both had a few bites and our 6 month old baby has been itching (though she also has a bit of mild eczema, poor little thing - I can't see any obvious signs of bites but I guess it's just a matter of time if we do have all three 
). Don't have pets nor have we been away anywhere so I'm struggling to see how they've got here except on the new floor coverings.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What's the best way to deal with it quickly and effectively? And what do you think the likelihood is that the bloody bug menagerie came in on the new carpet / rug? They were from a major retailer so keen to get opinions before I give them a very shirty phone call tomorrow....
