What to put on top of a wool duvet for winter?

I have a Baavet kingsize overstuffed medium I got from the baargain box. So it's not as warm as their heaviest one but it's a bit warmer than their normal medium one. I tend to run cold in winter, my partner tends to be hotter and my bedroom is very cold. Any recommendations for something to put on top? Was thinking about a single lightweight or medium baavet which I could then use on the sofa as well when watching tv- or could find a nice wool blanket? Any thoughts appreciated!

Are you using a sheet under the duvet? I have a king size heavy wool duvet and always do, but it makes a big difference when I omit the sheet during summer. Try a linen, or retro brushed cotton underneath.

But I must admit there’s an ancient single sized feather duvet folded over the end of my bed - it gets pulled up on the coldest nights.

Hmm - the sheet might not work if you’re sharing the bed with someone with incompatible warmth requirements!

So if you’re buying something new, then yes, a single duvet on top is probably the best option.

I have a heavy wool blanket on top of mine in the winter. And I use brushed cotton duvet covers and sheets.

Have you considered an electric underblanket? You can get ones with different temperatures on each side of the bed.

I have a Brookstone Nap Blanket. It's like the softest fleece, not the crappy itchy fleece blankets you normally get. They're only sold in the US but there must be something similar in the UK. They do post to the UK but the delivery and tax is extortionate.

I use a hand sewn (by me) patchwork quilt . light enough but adds insulation and style.
