How do I get poo stains off my carpet?

My cat had a Klingon moment the other day and used my carpet to get the offending bauble off. I now have a slid mark across the carpet which, despite the artistic talents of my wonderful pet, I don't want to keep for posterity.

What should I use to get it off? Is there anything non toxic/non Cillit Bang variety that I can use? I have a small child and would prefer not to have nasty chemicals lying around if at all possibile.

TIA

Yuk. Have you tried a baby wipe as first attempt? They can work magic. Failing that, 1001 carpet stain remover may be your only option, with lots of rinsing....I am no expert with the amazing home remedies for such things though, surely someone out there has some recipe for baking soda and lemonade or something that would do it with less chemicals!

Lol, tried the bicarb and water option already but it didn't do much good. Looks like I'm going to have to buy some nasty carpet stain remover, doesn't it?

i use fairy liquid to clean my carpet sometimes or have yuo tried diluted dettol as that would help kill the nasty bacteria too? i have two dogs who sometimes have accidents so i know how you feel! do not know if that helps!

I must admit I was worried about what dettol would do to my carpet. I'll try the fairy liquid and maybe mix that with something antibacterial and fresh smelling. Hopefully that'll work.

Simple solution stain and odor (spelt right must be american!) from pets at home is fantastic. Says on back safe to use around children and pets.

Seems to get out everything, have used on cat pee, ds sick and dog poo (kids and pets who would have them!) - it has got all marks out of cream carpet (not my choice!) and smells quite nice.

Its this one. although have just bought a new one and they've chanced the packaging

I always used baby wipes when I had poo stains (both from cat and from non-potty trained ds3) They work pretty well on the whole.
