Anyone hired Rug Doctor?

Looking for tips to make this successful, or alternative recommendations.
House is all old beige carpets. Can’t afford to replace at the moment, so would like to have a go at freshening them up and seeing if they still have a chance of looking nice. I think they are good quality, just well worn.

We did. My DH did the hard work and just went over and over our carpets until the used fluid/water sucked out of the carpet was more or less clear.

I have to say they looked fantastic (a sort of pale terracotta) afterwards. After that we bought a succession of Vax carpet cleaners but none has done that kind of job. Then again we never used them quite so intensely as we used Rug Doctor.

I'd use it again but not until our dogs have passed (may it be many years away!) because tbh dogs can mank up a carpet in an hour, and it just makes you ask what's the point.

Me - the last time was when I cleaned a filthy rental property after the tenants had left and it did a brilliant job. A tip on MN was to use Persil Small and Mighty instead of RD's own cleaning solutions. It does a great job (doesn't foam excessively) for a fraction of the price and a biological cleaner is great for dealing with a variety of smells and stains.

Great, thanks. I’ll get some small and mighty too.
