How to clean a giant teddy

My daughter won an enormous cuddly dog teddy bear in a raffle. She adores it despite it being about twice the size of her. The previous owner said she had had it for 20 years. It doesn’t smell too bad but it’s grubby and I don’t want her to sleep with it till its had a clean.
It’s far too big for my washing machine. Would a industrial size washer and dryer at a laundrette be better or a dry cleaner? I imagine it would take hours to thoroughly dry. It says surface wash only but I’m willing to risk it.

All our cuddly toys say surface wash only.
They have all been through the wahsing machine, including some old ones.
I think 99% have survived! (and they look really good)

I would find a laundrette with a large machine and put it through. I tend to use a cool wash, but not a wool wash/hand wash as they don;t come out clean enough.

Put it on high spin, and it will be surprisingly dry.

The tumble dryer is a risk. On the other hand if the stuffing goes lumpy, sometimes the tumble dryer sorts it out.

I wouldn't let her sleep with it for a couple of days until dry, but I think it will air dry in a couple of days. If you are like us, weather is warm and dry at the moment so put it in the sun

Good luck!

(don;t bother with dry cleaner, I used to work in one, and it never comes as clean as wahsing)
