Why is The White Company more expensive than competitors?

I have been eyeing up bedding for a while and I’ve noticed The White Company is loads more expensive than the likes of John Lewis and M&S. Even with the 15% off they have. Any reason why? Do they use better materials than John Lewis/M&S?

No they don't, you're paying for the brand. My White Company sheets were so thin they tore in less than a couple of years. My M&S and John Lewis ones are still going strong.

Definitely this! My mum has bed linen from WC which was a crazy price and its nowhere near as nice and hard wearing as my M&S linen.

I’ve bought a few things from TWC in the past and I honestly can’t tell the difference between that and the M&S one . Except TWC was more expensive.

Their sheets rip way before their competitors.

You are paying for their marketing and "lifestyle" branding unfortunately. They have in their shop the "pared down simple but expensive" vibe down to a tee so I suppose some people are willing to pay for not having to seek it out through other products in the mix in other shops. I have a few things from there, always bought in the sale, and in my opinion it is just the same quality as John Lewis etc.

King of Cotton bedding is made in Portugal in the same factory as White Company. It’s much cheaper.
