Drying washing

Hi all,

Could anyone recommend a cheaper / more eco friendly way of drying washing than a tumble dryer during the Winter months.
We have airers but as a family of 5 we struggle for space as it takes too long to dry.
Also bedding and towels don't fit!

Are heated airers quicker and cheaper to run? Is there anything you would recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure I have read that there is not much difference in cost between drying a load in a tumble dryer and having the washing on a heated airer for several hours. A dehumidifier seems to be by far the cheapest option.

no tumble dryer here.
we have a heated airer but only switch it on in emergencies.
mostly we use a washing line in the attic. nice and drafty up there and clothes usually are dry within a day.

what helps: adding an extra spin to get clothes extra dry

and reducing how often things are washed.
