White top washing crisis

oatmilkisntsobad · 22/08/2021 19:38

I've just accidentally washed a once lovely cotton white top with some denim and now it has a general blue hue with a blue patch at the front. Is there anything I can do to reverse the damage??

Soak in cold water immediately before it dries with some vanish powder. Cold water is important as hot water sets the cold.

If you’ve not dried it yet, you can try re-washing it with chloride or peroxide based bleach. But have to be honest, your chances are not good because it’s dye transference from the denim.

Thanks! I rewashed it immediately but in 30 degree wash so I'll do it again in cold now. It's still wet so not too late 🤞🏽

Buy a colour run remover

WindFlower92 · 22/08/2021 20:29

I discovered this - non bio powder, glo white sachets in the drum and run it at the hottest your machine will go. Renewed all my greying clothes and keeps them pure white! Might be worth a try?

Ok I've bought a colour run / whitener to use tomorrow if this cold wash doesn't work. Thanks!

Sadly nothing has worked 😢

I would soak in dilute bleach then rewash (probably with bleach!) now as there's nothing to lose?

LassoOfTruth · 23/08/2021 21:53

Not making any promises but Milton fluid might do it - soak overnight then rinse
