How do you lot clean up vomit from carpet?

Friends visited yesterday and their 2 year old barfed all over ds's bedroom carpet.

They were mortified.

I scraped it up and cleaned with hot soapy water and anti bac cleaner. Then today I used one of those mousse type carpet cleaners. It looks clean, but when you get down and sniff it honks.

What can I do?

And any tips for sucessfully cleaning up vomit?

wash the area with warm water and washing powder(bold persil etc) then rub so its nearly dry the repeat with warm water and bicarbonate of soda.Rub dry with a towel and spinkle on some more bi carb and leave for a few hour or overnight if you can and hoover up in the morning.Works everytime

If you are sure it's all been washed out then once it's dry sprinkle coat the affected area heavily with bicarbonate of soda then hoover up after a couple of hours. If it still smells you need to repeat with the carpet cleaner followed by more bicarbonate of soda. Can you tell I've cleaned up many a barf.

We had a similar episode yesterday.

Scraped, cleaned with 1001 carpet cleaner (liquid you dilute), then left overnight to dry. This morning, have sprinkled bicarb, then hoovered a few hours later. All fine.

I think it depends upon stomach contents how bad the smell is. Some linger a lot longer than others. Can you open the windows to let lots of fresh air in?

I find repeating "yeuww yeuk bleagh " seems to help whatever methid I choose. Otherwise I then vomit on top of it. But talking helps
