Daft question re divan beds and sheets...

Is it a Valence sheet which goes on the base part of a divan bed to cover it so you can't see the ghastly pattern the manufacturers decided to use?

And if it is - am i right in thinking that it goes under the mattress? and then you need your normal fitted sheet on the mattress?

TIA

That's it!! Well that's what I used to do anyway..

yes thats right ,valance goes on under the mattress

Yes, a valence rests on the ghastly hard base of your divan, the mattress on top to keep it in place, and your sheet on the mattress.

Just to confuse things, you can get a valanced sheet, which is 2 in one, but they are not usually deep enough to cover the ghastliness of the divan base.

Why don't they make nice, plain divans????

You're right - i am now confused. (and thanks for the replies) - so i need a Valence, NOT a valenced sheet?

(and then my normal fitted sheet).

I think you can get some which double up iyswim. Its to save you having to fit another sheet. So it's like an all-in-one. Personally I prefer to get separates. Sometimes it also depends on how high your bed is....otherwise the valance will be too long or too short. This is why I bought a new bed....not a divan as it used to drive me crazy!! Plus I used to stub my toes on the bed all the time!!
