Any top tips?

Big ole tea towel around the babe.
or don't bother with puress. Go onto proper food.

Orchide · 28/11/2007 16:56

were doing a bit of both - had a big lump of banana today
dont think a tea towel would be big enough...maybe the solution is no clothes?!

Yes!
I did that a lot when ti was warm!

catrin · 28/11/2007 19:52

Clothesless def best.
Failing that never give banana or tomato - never could shift them. (or dress dd in yellow/red clothing that day?)

Friend of mine swears by washing up liquid put on straight away and rubbed in before washing as normal.

What can you do if an errant bit of mango got stuck between ds chins and when dh got him undressed just shoved the pale blue / white top in the washing bin so the first thing you knew about it was when you got it out from having been washed?

sleepdeprivationandme · 29/11/2007 11:28

The tommee tippee plastic bibs are good - if you can find the very soft roll up types. or vanish powder in your wash - that has got everything but banana out of both ds' clothes

cmotdibbler · 29/11/2007 21:05

Napisan soak for clothes, Oxiclean or white wizard for floor. Best bibs are the SillyBillyz which have long sleeves and a fleece front and just don't stain - failing that a muslin is pretty good. DS just tips pelican bibs over his head. A cheap shower curtain keeps the floor clean a treat, although Ds can evade even that now.

Jennster · 29/11/2007 21:21

And pear stains like a ba%%%rd too. Hippy Chick Eater suits are quite good too. here They were far more expensive when I got mine!

phdlifeneedsanewlife · 29/11/2007 21:22

avocado is my nemesis - anyone know how to shift that? it isn't pureed til ds gets his hands on it

Orchide · 29/11/2007 21:25

Vole...what should you do....erm, retrain your DH?!!

tried the vanish and a hot wash today.... not altogether succeesful. Think we might have to try napisan tomorrow cos i cant let them beat me!

Try rinsing in cold water to remove the majority of food spillage before putting in the washing machine - a hot wash will set the stain.

A useless tip at this time of year, but hanging clothes out in the sun will get rid of most stains...

you could save on the chemicals etc and just buy some new clothes to replace the stained ones (which could be kept for messy play)

Washersaurus · 29/11/2007 21:44

I have always found soaking overnight in biotex is good for removing really stubborn stains btw.

Orchide · 29/11/2007 22:25

i dont need much in the way of an excuse to buy new clothes ...but DH sees things rather differently!!! [shock

so the hot wash didnt help then....after id set the washing machine off i did wonder if i'd heard that fact before!!!

I find using a bib really handy...
vanish and hanging out in daylight.

Washersaurus · 29/11/2007 22:55

I never had any joy with Vanish products - I thought they were just a con

phdlifeneedsanewlife · 30/11/2007 08:11

bibs - ds snorts at bibs. (well actually he screams and pulls at them until they come off or I take it off just to stop The Screaming...)

vole3 · 02/12/2007 20:04

I'm now trying kitchen roll folded over the neckline underneath a tommee tippee roll-up bib.......

but the butternut squash stained the bib instead

TicTacsMum · 02/12/2007 20:07

Most definitely second the hanging out in sunlight/daylight. Works for nearly anything.

jingleoooggs · 02/12/2007 20:17

sunshine I agree is fantastic at removing stains - if we had any sun that is
