Advice needed - what hoover should I buy?

Hello, we need a hoover for our house, my DH went out and bought some bright yellow outdoor leaf hoover when our old one died. I have finally pursuaded him that I need a proper one - but which? We have small children but no pets, wooden floors (so need a hoover with no-scratch attachments) and 3 floors of house, so I need one light enough to lug up the stairs...
Can you reccomend/warn me of any models??
Thanks

i did this recently, and after extensive research, went for a miele.

also have dc, no pets, wood floors, and wanted light (to carry), long lasting, good performance, reasonably quiet.... is v good.

i also think henrys are good, but they dont keep the tools onboard and i lose them if theyre not onboard.

We used to have a dyson (wedding present from PiL ) and I never really got on with it. Now have a Miele and love it

Miele do a parquet special which I will go for when my current Miele dies.

we have a Miele S5210 which is great on our wooden floors and tiles. It can also be used on carpets. It's very light, and has very strong suction.

ooh, thanks for the advice, I saw the Miele in the shops and they looked nice and light, I'll look into them.

If you decide against the miele for any reason then the Henry really is worth looking into. I'm going to get one when my dyson is out of warranty (it has packed up so many times within the extended 4 year warranty that there is very little of the original hoover left )

Miele too. Makes hoovering less of a chore somehow.
