Damp laundry left for a week! Will this affect my laundry room?

Hi all, I just discovered a basket full of washed but damp clothe in our laundry room. My mum suffers from anxiety and frequently forgets simple things. By my reckoning, the basket has been sitting for almost a week. There's no musty smell but I've rewashed on a high heat cycle.

Should I be concerned about the rest of the room being contaminated with mould spores? We have a rug in the room and the tumble dryer is located here as well. I've read that tumble dryers suck in surrounding air and I'm scared because there's been a basket of potentially mouldy clothes less than 4 feet from the tumble dryer 😕

Your mum suffers from anxiety? Or you?

It's fine. Re-wash clothes. The end.

But the clothes weren't mouldy were they? You would've seen or smelled it.

If it bothers you that much, clean the rug, mop the floor and wipe worktops and let in some fresh air.

I have never heard of anyone coming to any harm from this and it happens all the time.

I’d be dead by now if this was a thing.

A cup of vinegar in the wash helps too.

Mould spores, laundry room problems etc - no issue at all.

I find if I’ve left damp laundry I have to let it dry and then rewash otherwise the smell does not go if I just rewash from damp. I have no idea if this is a thing or my imagination!
