Aldi room sprays...absolutely horrible?

What's your view on them? I've made the mistake of buying it again. I thought I disliked the smell because I was pregnant but now that I'm not I just hate it. It goes straight to my head. I normally buy glade so I don't what I was doing. It must have been the pink packaging...

Any supermarket glade dupes?

My view is that I wouldn’t buy any brand of “room spray”. Why do you want to breathe synthetic chemicals in your house, OP? Isn’t natural fresh air nicer?

thelegohooverer · 20/07/2021 09:32

If you need a room spray could there be underlying issues like fabrics that need cleaning (carpet, curtains, couch?) or greasy residues in the kitchen (change filters/ tops of kitchen cabinets).

I can’t bear the smell of any of them - I can just about tolerate the occasional scented candle.

aiwblam · 20/07/2021 09:34

Room spray shouldn’t be something people buy. What is wrong with your air that causes you to need to spray these chemicals into the air that you breathe? You should not be inhaling any of this shit.

What do u do when you go to the toilet and do a number 2? 😂 leave the smell lingering? We don't have air fresheners anywhere besides one next to the toilet. I don't want to breathe that kind of air in... 😂

I can't bear the smell of any either but it's necessary in the bathroom especially when you have guests.

Erm you open the window to let fresh air in or turn the extractor fan on?

You're basically just spraying harmful chemicals around your house, yuck.

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 21/07/2021 17:11

Open the window or an oil burner. Citronella is a good one for summer as it doubles as an insect repellent.

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 21/07/2021 17:18

Strike a match. Works far better than room sprays.

inappropriateraspberry · 21/07/2021 17:20

Open a window or light a candle (not scented). The burning will get rid of the smell.
Or just tell everyone to give it 5 minutes! How often does someone need to use the bathroom immediately after you've been?

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 21/07/2021 17:25

"Air fresheners" just go on top of bathroom smells, they don't remove them. So now you're breathing in bathroom smells and some sort of synthetic 'freshener' smells. Not a positive change IMO.

autumntimebrowns · 22/07/2021 09:22

I find a quick spray of neutradol does the trick in the loo. And no need of anything anywhere else.

Chemenger · 22/07/2021 09:29

Close the bathroom door and open a window or put the fan on. That actually gets rid of the smell rather than adding another smell on to which is entirely made of it necessary chemicals.

Chemenger · 22/07/2021 09:29

The candle works too.

Weird. Never needed air freshener. Open a window or an extractor fan.
MrsXx4 · 22/07/2021 10:14

Eurgh! Then it just smells of flowery poo! It really doesn’t mask any smells! Just open the windows!

Any room spray anywhere in the house I automatically think of toilets! They all smell like toilets!

I can just about tolerate a scented candle, very particular on the scent though, but mostly we have fresh air throughout the house.

TheProvincialLady · 22/07/2021 10:20

Just open a window. Shit and chemical flowers smells worse than actual shit.

thelegohooverer · 23/07/2021 20:54

At the risk of sparking a toilet brush war, the bathroom smells don’t linger beyond a minute or two if there aren’t traces left in the bowl. It’s basic manners to check you’ve left the toilet clean after using it.

I know there’s a lot of toilet brush hate on MN but they do allow everyone to clean up after themselves.
