Our house is a tip I work full time and most evenings.

I have been putting off having people over but have invited friends over next week which is forcing me to do something about it. I hope I will be able to be more ruthless and productive under pressure!

I need to ensure the house is 100 times better by then

Jobs to do

Cut grass and plant plants
Declutter
Clean
Also would like to paint fence but may be a step too far

What's the quickest and best method?

I have 2 days when dcs are at school that I have booked off

I have bags of stuff sitting around to eBay/ sell that I haven't got round to !

The usual advice on here is to set an alarm and do a set time in each room when time is limited but you have two days to play with!

Make a list of things that need doing and stick to it, starting with a trip to the charity shop!

Stick the eBay bags in the car boot!

Is it messy all over, or is it just the bags of stuff for sale you're worried about?

I would say forget decluttering unless it's a job that would take less than two hours.

Blitz toys, books, kid stuff. Do you have storage for that kind of stuff?

Fold and put away clothes. If you don't have enough room for clothes, shove extra in your washing machine, and dryer if you have one. No need to wash them. Just store them there. Clothes can also be jammed into airing cupboards.

Put shoes and boots under beds. Also extra kid stuff.

Hoover, open windows. Clean bathroom/s within an inch of their lives. Buy fresh flowers. Air any throw blankets, etc outside if possible.

Tackle the garden last. If you don't get around to planting flowers, just arrange pots nicely. Get rid of weeds near the front door/ path.
