Complete tidy haven or disaster zone? This is our garage. As you can see it's a complete bomb site. When next door open theirs and show off how tidy it is it makes me want to cry.
I also went into the attic for the first time last night and my god it's like a hoarders attic. In my defence it's only 1/4 boarded so if we had more room it might look better but I'm literally having sleepless nights over what's above my head. If we ever come to move I think I'd be best just to set fire to it all and rebuild!
Anyone else's house like this?

I must have problems as that looks pretty well organised to me! Grin

You can't even walk into our garage it's so piled high with shit stuff my DH needs. No one needs that many tools, can't even get the gardening stuff in without it being on top of a pile of crap.

I think it is tidy too! Overloaded but organised. But needs whittling down and removed to the skip.

Garage and outbuilding full to the rafters, mainly DH's outdoor hobby stuff(fishing, cycling etc.), caravan and garden stuff. Attic is quite empty, we had a big clear out of the attic about 5 years ago and several trips to the tip. now the only things allowed in the attic are Xmas decs, empty boxes of items that may break before guarantee period run out (eg. microwave, shredder, Dyson boxes) and recently the suitcases as we don't expect to go abroad for holidays anytime soon.

Our garage is a (frankly rather ridiculous) 500 square foot and 48 feet long, and when we bought the house you could fit 3 cars in it end-to-end. We've been here three years now, and it is so full of junk that I can only just fit my car in (which is a VW Up so is tiny). The previous owners had nothing, and I mean nothing in it. Such a waste!

I'd love to knock my double garage down and have a bigger garden.. but apparently it adds to house price...
I've managed to clean it out this weekend phew

When we did work on our old house it required the attic to be decluttered/sorted.

Four of us and many trailer trips to the tip, trips to charity shops.

My kids are older so helped us which was good, they had a say in what was kept as most of it was their old toys etc.

Dh up the attic passing stuff down, he sorted what he wanted to keep of his when he discovered it.

Me on the landing, sorting what was staying and what was to go out of the house.

Kids running stuff to dining room (where I had set up boxes) or to the trailer which was outside ready.

Essential, dry weather Smile, bribe of a takeaway for lunch and tea Smile

The feeling when it was all over was IMMENSE.

Our workman couldn't believe it was the same attic and when we came to move house a few years later getting everything down was much easier as most of it was all sorted and boxed up, we'd dumped some more up there but nothing like it was.

Most of my dining room was used to store our attic boxes ready for moving day, I mean floor to ceiling, only room for table left no room to sit around it.

I've had a panic attack just thinking about my loft and garage! Was planning on a 2 week holiday abroad as from next week but it's been cancelled which could be a blessing. The plan now is to declutter and sort them both, along with the summerhouse and 2 sheds!

I've just moved into my house, it's small (but lovely as abusive exh isn't here 😂). I have a brick built she'd that has my recycling boxes and a little tumble dryer. Nothing in the attic, and there never will be - if it gets shoved out of the way, I obviously don't want or need it. Garage currently has a large amount of packaging from furniture and crap previous owners left behind, I'm going to clear it and there will be nothing in it Grin Can't be arsed to put the car in there.
