I have been going through the most difficult time of my life and I've let my house get into a complete state Sad Can anybody help me to motivate myself? Where do I start??
There is too much stuff, there are kids, there's the dog... every time I start a task there's a distraction!

If you have trouble throwing stuff away because it is good stuff but it isn't desirable enough to be able to sell it easily or you don't want the bother - join your local Buy Nothing group on Facebook. The only effort is taking a photo, putting it on the group, selecting a recipient and putting it outside for collection. I feel much better getting rid of stuff if I know it is going to a home that will love it and not in a bin. Every weekend when I do some cleaning I try to find a few things to give away.

First thing I would do is book a tip slot if you have to currently with your local council, then you have a date to work to motivate you, look at size of your car boot, as you might need two slots booked, then pick a room, get a roll of thick black sacks, your hoover with all the attachments, lots of cloths and a spray bottle of something nice smelling (I like method rhubarb) then pick where you start and go round any cupboards floor drawers under stuff on top of stuff until you’ve done the whole room, even if it takes a week or more, and lots of rewarding coffee/teas to rehydrate and the odd biscuit 🍪 to keep sugar levels up. Don’t think if the whole house needing doing it will overwhelm you, one thing one room at a time. Good luck
