Blood on sheets

Anyone got any top tips for removal? Sheets are a variety of colours, no white. I always get my period with a big flood.

Thanks

Wash in the machine with bio powder. Use a cycle with a prewash. If there's a large amount you could soak them in cold water first in the bath/sink

Soak in cold water with plenty of salt. Wash on a cold cycle.

If any stains remain, dry outside in the sun - sunlight is great for stains, particularly protein-based ones (like blood).

Vanish Platinum powder — 1 scoop in the load alongside the normal washing powder — works every time for me in this situation.

My usual washing powder is Ariel professional strength (bought from Amazon), which seems to be far better at stains than the gel I formerly used.

Oh sorry, just re-read your op — my sheets are white. I think Vanish would probably still take the blood out for you though, but I’d look for a variant suitable for colours.

Always wash it manually with cold water first, most of the blood should come out.

The pink stuff laundry spray is fantastic at this!

I always soak anything blood stained in salt water solution in cold water overnight and wash in the morning it works 99.9% of the time.

I’m curious about the soaking or pre-washing thing, since I never do this and blood always seems to come out fine.

Those of you who do this, is it for eco reasons maybe? On the basis that you are trying to stick to greener laundry products than the ones I tend to use? Fair enough if so! just wondering

dementedpixie · 18/06/2021 19:21

I don't usually soak and use bio powder and blood tends to come out ok

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/06/2021 19:25

I use ace laundry bleach. It foams as it touches blood. Always gets the stain out and doesn’t fade colours. It’s fab.

Cold wash as soon as possible
