Clothes in wardrobe

I take far too long to choose what I will wear in the morning. Was wondering if it would help to hang things in items, ie all trousers together, or in colour, ie all black stuff together.

hang in garment type

I have shelves so fold rather than hang, but the principle stands, so I have separate stacks of everyday trousers, shortsleeves, longsleeves, vests and jumpers.
Means you can see at a glance what you have and what you can put with what.

Thank you. Will have a sort out later.

Top tip 1: put away (clean and folded) absolutely all the clothes that you aren't currently wearing regularly (ie summer clothes, spring clothes, out-of-fashion clothes, clothes you can't fit into) and have a good sort of the clothes that are left so that they are hanging by item ie all trousers together (as you suggest). You will find it much easier to get dressed this way.

Take out all the unworn clothes in the spring, throw away/donate/recycle all those that have outgrown their usefulness (this will be much easier because you won't miss them because they haven't been in your wardrobe for a few months), and put away your winter clothes.

Do this every season and you will have fewer clothes and a better look.

Top tip 2: buy all matching hangers (I have lovely wooden ones from Ikea that cost next to nothing) - it makes your wardrobe much neater and easier to sort.
