Soda stream opinions

The arrival of nice weather made me think of buying a soda stream, just for a quick readily available option and I do love a highly carbonated drink. After reading reviews on Amazon I’m no longer convinced it’s worth the money. What’s the verdict of fellow mumsnetters? What’s the best option here?

@BIWI, doh, yes my mistake, I went and looked on the sodastream site, thinking well actually, they must still need gas, and then forgot to remove my comment before I posted . Yes, the electric bit saves the button pushing I suppose .

btw does it make sparkling wine if you shove some wine in it

You can tell your friend that if they were to Google it, they would find lots of stuff (mainly on YouTube). It seems that you can carbonate wine, but you have to be very careful how you go about doing it, otherwise you could risk an explosion!

Heston Blumenthal but never mentioned any of the potential risks.
